Explore the dashboard and Cost Explorer

Summary

After cloud data syncs, use the Home dashboard for a high-level view and Cost Explorer for detailed spend analysis.

Required role: Any org member with FinOps capability

Prerequisites

  • At least one connected data source with synced billing data

Steps

1. Review the Home dashboard

Open Home (/) to see:

  • Current month spend and forecast
  • Top 6 resources by cost
  • Policy violations requiring attention
  • Potential monthly savings from recommendations
  • Pools exceeding budget limits

2. Drill into expenses

Click organization expense widgets or go to FinOps → Cost Explorer.

3. Use breakdown filters

Filter costs by:

  • Cloud / data source
  • Pool
  • Owner
  • Service, region, cost type
  • Kubernetes namespace (when K8s is connected)

4. Inspect daily spend

Click bars in the breakdown chart to open daily expense details.

5. Try the Cost Map

Open FinOps → Cost Map for geographic spend visualization by region.
