Recommendations

Overview​

The Recommendations page is your primary hub for identifying and acting on cloud cost optimization opportunities. It provides personalized, data-driven advice across all your connected cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP, Alibaba, Nebius) to help you quickly assess and reduce your cloud spend.

By leveraging the tools on this page, you can pinpoint the highest-impact savings, automate cleanup tasks, and track your optimization progress over time.

Dashboard Highlights​

The top of the Recommendations page provides a high-level summary of your optimization potential:

  • Savings Bar: Get a quick comparison of your Possible Monthly Savings against your This Month's Expenses Forecast. This helps you understand the relative impact of the proposed optimizations.
  • RI/SP Expenses Card: Tracks your Reserved Instance (RI) and Savings Plan (SP) coverage. It displays your total savings from commitments over the last 30 days and the percentage of compute expenses covered. Click "See RI/SP Coverage" to dive deeper into your commitment utilization.
  • S3 Duplicates Finder: Highlights the total size of duplicate objects found in your S3 buckets and the possible monthly savings if they are removed. You can navigate directly to the S3 Duplicate Finder from this card to clean them up.

Maximizing Cost Savings​

To use the Recommendations page to its fullest potential and prioritize the most impactful actions, use the following strategies:

1. Prioritize High-Impact Savings​

  • Sort by Highest Saving: By default, recommendations can be sorted to show the largest potential savings first. Always tackle the top recommendations on this list to get the best return on your time.
  • Filter Out Noise: Enable the > $1 Savings filter (when viewing the "Cost" category) to hide negligible savings and focus your attention on meaningful optimizations.

2. Streamline Your Workflow with Filters​

  • Filter by Service: Use the Services filter to narrow down recommendations to specific resources (e.g., EC2 instances, RDS databases) if you are currently focused on optimizing a particular area of your infrastructure.
  • Filter by Data Source: Focus on a specific cloud provider or environment by selecting specific Data Sources from the top multi-select dropdown.
  • View Modes: Switch between Cards for a visual, summarized view or Table View for bulk review and data exporting.

3. Take Immediate Action​

  • Use Cleanup Scripts: Certain recommendations, such as removing unused volumes or obsolete snapshots, provide automated Cleanup Scripts. You can download and run these scripts to instantly clean up resources without manually navigating through cloud consoles.
  • Force Check: After you implement a recommendation or change your infrastructure, click the Force Check button in the top toolbar to re-evaluate your environment and update your savings figures in near real-time.
  • Archive Unwanted Items: If a recommendation is not applicable or cannot be implemented due to business requirements, archive it. This keeps your recommendations list clean and focused on actionable items. You can always review them later in the Archived Recommendations page.
