Recommendation types
Overview
Recommendations appear on Home → Recommendations and in the recommendations detail view. Each card includes type, affected resource, estimated savings, and suggested action.
Common recommendation types

| Rightsizing | Instance size exceeds observed CPU/memory utilization | 20–30% on compute |
| Idle resources | Running instances with near-zero utilization | Varies |
| Unattached storage | EBS volumes or disks not attached to instances | High per-volume |
| S3 duplicates | Duplicate objects across buckets | 30–50% on affected storage |
| RI/SP coverage gap | On-demand usage that could use commitments | 20–40% |
| TTL violations | Resources exceeding configured lifetime policies | Prevents runaway cost |
| Power schedule | Resources running outside business hours | 10–20% on dev/test |
Prerequisites for recommendations
- Connected data source with synced billing data
- Resource discovery enabled (IAM permissions)
- Sufficient usage history (typically 7–30 days depending on type)
Acting on recommendations
- Open the recommendation detail panel
- Validate impact with resource owners
- Apply fix in cloud console or via automation
- Archive the recommendation when complete
