Missing cost data
Symptom
Data source shows as connected but Home, Cost Explorer, or recommendations show zero or incomplete cost data.
Expected timelines
| Stage | Expected wait |
|---|---|
| First connection | 2–4 hours for initial billing sync |
| Ongoing updates | Hourly |
| GCP BigQuery export | Up to 24 hours for first export |
| Recommendations | 24–48 hours of usage history |
Checklist
1. Verify data source status
Open System → Data Sources — status should be Connected with recent last-sync timestamp.
2. Confirm billing export delivery
- AWS: CUR files appearing in S3 bucket daily
- Azure: Cost Management exports enabled
- GCP: BigQuery billing export table receiving rows
3. Check date range filters
In Cost Explorer, ensure the selected date range includes days after sync completed.
4. Validate IAM permissions
Missing Cost Explorer or billing API permissions cause partial data. See provider guides:
5. Linked account scope
For AWS linked accounts, verify the payer account CUR includes the linked account ID.
