Session timeout and re-login

Symptom​

After leaving Costimizer idle for about 1–1.5 hours, clicking any module may show:

  • "Something Went Wrong" error screen, or
  • Unexpected behavior until you sign in again

Cause​

Costimizer session tokens (macaroons) expire after a period of inactivity. When a token expires, API requests return 401 Unauthorized. In some cases the app may not redirect to login immediately.

Resolution​

Quick fix​

  1. Navigate directly to dashboard.costimizer.ai/login
  2. Sign in again with your SSO provider
  3. Return to your previous page

If the error persists:

  1. Clear site data for dashboard.costimizer.ai in your browser (or use a private window)
  2. Sign in fresh

Prevention​

  • Sign out explicitly when finished for the day
  • Avoid leaving sensitive FinOps sessions open on shared machines
  • Keep your browser updated — stale IndexedDB cache can occasionally delay logout
